Barn Owl B&B, ModburyA quiet place in Modbury for bed and breakfast- Barn Owl is a Georgian style modern house situated in an elevated position in the town of Modbury, South Devon, within easy walking distance of local shops, pubs and restaurants.

Modbury itself is a small country town, an historic conservation area, traced back to the days of the Saxons, nestling in rolling hills in the beautiful South Hams countryside.

Approximately 4 miles from the nearest beach, which is well known for it's surfing and scenic surroundings, there are coastal walks, beaches and sea views aplenty nearby. Dartmoor National Park is a few miles to the north, with it's wild ponies and magnificent rugged landscape. The area is particularly attractive to those seeking outdoor pursuits, including surfing, golfing, walking (Modbury has just been awarded “walkers are welcome” accreditation). However, the picturesque towns of Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Totnes are nearby, and for those who want more urban facilities, Plymouth (11 miles) and Exeter (35 miles), both cathedral cities, provide a comprehensive array of shops, theatres and areas of historic interest.

Modbury Town- just a few minutes walk from Barn OwlThe house itself reflects the proximity to nature which Modbury offers, with relaxing coastal-inspired colours and local artwork, Barn Owl B&B is a welcoming retreat, where tranquillity is the byword.

It is an ideal venue, whether for a relaxing short break in an area of outstanding natural beauty or a more energetic holiday, with surfing (Bantham and Bigbury), sailing (Salcombe, Newton Ferrers & Plymouth), golf (Bigbury Golf course) and hiking (Dartmoor National Park & the South West Coast Path) all on the programme. Not to mention the usual beach attractions of swimming and simply enjoying the views.

Your hosts will be happy to help with local recommendations, there are too many to mention here!
